The vigil in a park in Morristown was intended to highlight the woman’s life and the dangers and discrimination that transgender people face.
A 43-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in the second degree in the fatal stabbing. Police say a preliminary investigation has determined the victim was killed Tuesday after the suspect and victim met several days earlier.
A passerby found the victim’s body Tuesday morning.
The death has raised concerns in the community about violence against people who are transgender.
