WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Law enforcement officials are looking for the person who set a fire at the Richland County Law Enforcement Center in Wahpeton, forcing jail inmates to be moved elsewhere.

Authorities said a fire was started in the lobby of the building about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, KFGO reported. There was moderate damage to the lobby and smoke throughout the building, according to officials.

Inmates were moved from the corrections center to a secure area and arrangements were made to transfer them to jails in Cass and Barnes counties.

Sheriff Larry Leshovsky said searches of the law enforcement center, courthouse, and surrounding area turned up no sign of a suspect.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation are assisting Richland County officials with the case.
