The film’s beauty as directed by All the President’s Men and Klute filmmaker Alan J. Pakula is that you, the audience, are not told whether Ford’s character is guilty or innocent right away. As a result, as you follow the protagonist, your opinion changes dramatically with each discovery. Ford is outstanding in this film, demonstrating that he is more than just a charismatic action hero.
